Using custom .CSV exports in Papers

Papers allows you to export a library or list as a .csv (comma-separated values) file, with the option to customize the ReadCube fields you would like to export.

(Please note this feature is only available for .csv format exports.)

To export a library, click on the cog icon next to the library or list you’d like to export. Hover over the “Export to” menu to see the export format options, and select “Comma-separated Values (.csv)”

This will bring up the Export csv menu. You will see the option to “Customize Export” here. Toggle the option on to customize the export.

You’ll have the option to deselect fields, which will exclude them from the export.

To customize the header names, toggle on both “Export Header” and “Customize Header Names”. Make sure the fields that you would like to customize are selected. This will give you the ability to change the field’s name when it is exported. Then, simply replace the default header name with your desired name.

You can also change the delimiter by selecting the dropdown menu. By default, comma is selected as the delimiter, but the options of semicolon and tab are also available.

When you’re satisfied with your customizations, click on “Export” to begin the export.
