What happens during the import process?

During import, ReadCube Papers does not move, copy or upload your PDF articles.

ReadCube Papers first searches your computer to locate your PDF documents. Once you've selected which PDFs you'd like to import, ReadCube Papers then extracts small fragments of information from each PDF (like the DOI, title, year, and author(s)) and uses this information to uniquely match your PDF with online databases containing citations (PubMed, Google Scholar, CrossRef). Once each PDF is matched with a database entry online, the relevant metadata is downloaded, and your PDF is tagged in your ReadCube Papers library, so you can easily find them in the future.
