    Hi ReadCube users!

We definitely agree that there should be an easy way for our users to return back to whatever they were looking at before they clicked on a link (for example, back to your search after clicking on an article, or back to the article you were reading after clicking a reference). We think that the left-side bar allows for this with its “recently viewed” and “recent searches” sections and fills this need. For now, we think that an additional back button would be unnecessary.

If you disagree, feel free to let us know at support@readcube.com.

    Best,

    Alex

Having used Readcube for a while, I have to say that no, the left hand bar just doesn't do it. Reason being, you have the real estate eaten first by the searches and folders, then by other open articles and just going back to where you were is a case of scrolling down, picking what you were working on and then clicking on it. Open articles are listed in the last opened order which means that your current one could be anywhere. It's actually quite annoying, moreso if you have several articles on the go.

I can't vote for this too hard -- Scrivener is one of the best programmes for compiling complex documents and making it easy to use with Readcube would be awesome.

It would be indeed very useful. I often get advanced copy pdfs and if there were a way to update them to the final version later, that would be most handy.

Might I suggest you look into Scrivener? It was originally designed for script writers who need lots of disparate bits of information to put together but it is awesome as a lab notebook, incorporating all the features you've suggested and more.

Now that I've been using Readcube for the better part of a year, I'm really loving it... but I have 1100 citations in Endnote that I'm desperate to integrate. Surely there has to be a way to import citations, given that exporting them is a breeze.

This is a really great ideal! Thanks for the feedback! Would you also be interested in a feature like “Do not show articles like these again.” that would hopefully stop showing you articles of a certain type?

I would love this feature as well, particularly as I've gathered a rather unruly bunch of pdfs on rather wide-ranging subject matter and so sorting to lists using predetermined search criteria would be extremely useful.
